What do you do when you write something that’s fun, funny, and you really enjoyed doing?

Write a sequel, of course.

Which brings me to BLACK Is Back, the sequel to BLACK. Oh, nothing. It’s just live, is all.

I think this second installment is actually more humorous than the first, although I’m clearly biased. What I can say is that fans of hard-boiled detective fiction with a cynical sense of humor will probably enjoy it. If you liked Get Shorty, this is up your alley. Fans of my action adventure stuff might wonder where the next car chase or explosion is, but that’s part of the fun of writing in a different milieu. Mixing it up. Keeping em guessing. And so on.

Here’s the cover. I’m hard at work on BLACK is the New Black, where someone’s killing the fashion models, and hope to have that out in mid to late November. Back to the ink mines on getting that whipped into shape. Hope you enjoy BLACK 2, as I think of BLACK Is Back. I think it’s a hoot.

Too late. Cover art’s done. See what happens when you leave me to my own devices?

I did no such thing. Please do not hurl false accusations at me.

Black. It’s the new Black. Get it? GET IT? Hey, don’t be so serious. Live a little.

I get it. I got it the first time thank you very much. I would have been all for it and called you God, again, and genius and that sort of thing if this book ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK isn’t all popular right now.

Um, that’s part of what makes it funny, I thought…

I usually don’t even click on the book if the title seems to be a spin-off of another well-known book. That’s why. Don’t mind me. What do I know. I’ll buy your book anyway. That’s the important thing.

Question is whether that book will still be popular in another month and a half. If so, well, meh, maybe I can get new readers that way. But that X is the new black has been around a long time. Shame to not be able to use a pretty ubiquitous popular phrase…

Well Russell…I’d buy your new crap if it was available to me. Hello…the whole universe doesn’t own a kindle…some of us are nook owners! Let me know 🙂

Ive read both black books and really enjoyed. The humour is great and some of the one-liners speak to me. Great series developing. Ive read every other of your books over the past 2 yrd and love em all.
Thamks for such great entertainment. Look forward to much more.
