The Eighteenth novel in the JET series just went live on Amazon, and it’s a real humdinger of a book, if I don’t mind saying so myself. All the usual twists and turns, with a host you won’t see coming.

I hate to give away the plot in advance, so that’s all I’ll say, but I’d imagine those who adore the series will love this installment.

You can find the book here.

Typically takes Amazon 24-48 hours to propagate it globally. Should be on UK by tomorrow.

Russell, My wife and I,partly inspired by your guide to becoming expatriates in Mexico are selling our home in the U.S. and spending six months taking a look down there. If we like what we find and I think that we will, we will be looking for a place to rent. Colima currently is at the top of our list. especially the ElEncanto/ Altozano area. Any advice would be helpful. Perhaps you are going to need tenants or know of someone?

I just discovered you and I’m glad I did. As a 56-year-old who actually started to write a few months ago I’ve been devouring other authors work that I never would have listened to or read before.
I just finished the Black series and one of the things I noticed I think there was only one instance of the phrase “padded to the bathroom”.

I am going to avoid without a doubt the following phrases or references in anything I write

    1. A character that’s ‘pads” anywhere. I will NEVER use the term “padding, padded, pad to denote walking my barefoot. I will simply write: “She walked on her bare feet to the kitchen”

    2. A “cops” of trees.
    3. A “murder” of crows.
    4. ANY reference to Germany, WW2, Nazi’s, concentration camps etc to reference “evil” or as an example of something bad, undesirable or unwanted.
Why? Because almost EVERY author does this. It’s not that these things are in any way defensible, it’s more that this is intellectually and editorially LAZY!
If something is so bad that it is deserving of one of history’s most hideous crimes/criminals/periods then isn’t it deserving of descriptive prose?
Failing to describe this evil and instead reliance upon such tropes is akin to having your character walk outside and say “Baxter walked from his house to his car on a beautiful sunny day on Malibu Beach”. Huh? We all know that should have been described not a weather report. “Baxter almost skipped to his car after turning from his front door, with the sun bouncing from his gold rimmed sunglasses as he peered at the ocean framed by ….yada yada yada….
Same with evil. No Nazi’s. Nazi’s bad yes. Describe bad.

Well anyway all this ranting is just to say that you’re very refreshing as an author as you don’t seem to do that thing where you rely on metaphorical reference but rather you go through the effort, the work, the actual thought process that leads to an enjoyable immersive experience for the reader.
I only hope I can be half as good in my efforts.
A true inspiration for an old dog trying to learn new tricks (literally a disabled 34 year career truck driver me, who is trying desperately to avoid applying for disability)

    Take good care.

      Glad you’re enjoying the work.

While it’s impossible to avoid cliches entirely, it’s best to resort to them sparingly, as it’s lazy to plod the same ground as a million others without anything new to add.

Good luck with the writing. The hours may suck, but at least the pay’s lousy.

Ok, when is the next book coming out? I literally inhaled “Ignition” I was anxious when I finally got it. Now I finished it. ? I have to know when is the next installment coming? And PLEASE tell Nabilia is going to get her comeuppance. The things she’s done has to be accounted for. I miss that Crotchy old Director. Will the new Director Noah be up to the task? Especially when he can’t really trust those around him, not even the PM. Can’t wait to read what’s coming next. And let’s see more of Matt & Hannah. Even though they are protecting her, she still sees what’s going on that child is going to need some help because of it.

    Please hurry the next one!

    Hello Russell,

Are you still doing amazon ads and is it even worth it?
Am thinking of doing something of that nature (you gave me the name of the lady who took care of the ads for you a while back, etc.) in order, hopefully, to get my Edgar “Doc” Holiday thriller series out of the ‘Zon basement. Being strictly Indie it seems nearly impossible to get any kind of exposure for one’s books.

Appreciate your posts regarding Covid. I did come down with it about three months back. Not only lived through it, but beat it within four days. It was no fun. I’ll spare you the details (high fever and food tasted metallic), but, like I said, survived the damned thing & I ain’t no spring chicken, either, bro. In fact, the flu I caught more than ten years ago was way more severe.

    Best,
    Kirk Alex

I don’t really do Zon ads anymore as they’re not cost effective given the number of authors bidding for visibility. I’m sticking to Facebook as I get a decent bang for my buck, but it’s a long way from the 150% ROI I was getting on Amazon about four and a half years ago. Those where the good ol days…

        Thank you, Russell!
I guess I’ll have to reopen my fb account (closed it years ago, as I don’t care for any of ’em: fb, twitter, etc., etc.). Seems social media is a necessary evil these days (as far as getting the word out for a product). They’ve put you through enough crap over there, it seems to me. What else can it be but a form of fascism? Want to get banned? Disagree with the way Big Brother thinks it ought to be.

Am wondering, though, if it’s even worth writing books anymore? Been at it for decades. Could be burnout. Even the great Joe Wambaugh has decided to give the writing a rest. Promotion is way too costly lately.
        Regards,
        Kirk Alex

When will this be out in paperback? I don’t like reading on Kindle. I like to have the actual book! Thanks.
