I’ve finished up BLACK In The Box, and am hard at work on Rage of the Assassin – the final tome in that series. Work is going swimmingly, and I’m delighted with both story lines, as well as the pacing.
My publishing schedule this year is a little crazy – Emerald Buddha in Sept along with the paperback version of The Eye of Heaven with Cussler, and the brand new co-authored The Solomon Curse. BLACK In The Box in Oct. Rage of the Assassin in Nov. Maybe something in December, maybe not. A third in the Drake Ramsey series by Feb. All of which I’ll write in 2015.
Which brings me to 2016: I’m thinking about releasing The Water Trilogy under the R.E. Blake moniker at some point next year, assuming I write it all. If not, well, I won’t, obviously. I think 2016 will hold at least two Ramsey’s books, and a couple of others, but that’s it. As I close in on 50 novels published, I don’t think I’m suffering from a lack of my work being available, so see no reason to kill myself on more than a novel every quarter, which in trad pub circles would be considered near miraculous, and for me would be a vacation.
I’m pleased to see that the JET Kindle Worlds launched with a bang, and several of the offerings are top ranked in both the Kindle Worlds store, as well as their genres. Doesn’t get much better than that.
Beyond which, I’ll be traveling a lot over the coming few months as I check out new places to live. Getting bored with Baja after a dozen years, so off in search of greener pastures. Life is an adventure, right?
Thanks for the continued support, folks. Been a hell of a four year ride. Looking forward to the next four, assuming an irate husband, my bad attitude, or questionable liver doesn’t do me in first.

According to canon, Jet spent a wonderful two years in Trinidad; but it may have a little too much of the type of activity you’d be familiar with as the creator of the JET series. However, Trinidad’s sister isle, Tobago, is a great refuge for a creative mind. Said to have been the inspiration for Daniel Defoe’s “Robinson Cruseo”.
Interesting. I’ll add it to the list.
Pre-ordered the new Black book. Good luck in your travels.
Your work rate frightens me so am glad you might pull back just a tad next year.
Parts of the UK are lovely to visit but we have the same insipid form of democracy as appears to be the case in the USA and that is so disappointing.
So I look forward to following your journey – as with other aspects of life – it’s good to have choices.
Kindest, Zara
Choices are always good. I’m a fortunate man.
Russell, thanks for keeping us updated. I’m really glad to hear that you’re “slowing down” and it sets the bar high that you did 50 novels before you started to, OMG!! I have so enjoyed being a part of the Jet launch and thrilled that folks seem to like Nightbird, thanks so much for including me in that fun venture.
As to the greener pastures, us too. We liked the Pacific Northwest San Juan islands a hell of a lot. Keep us posted!
Much aloha

The tax benefits of not living in the US are far too vast for me to ever contemplate anywhere within its borders, Toby. That and I see the steady demise of the freedoms we took for granted not too long ago, along with an increasingly militaristic bent in the police and as the solution to most international problems, and prefer to sit that one out. Nightbird is doing well – I’m sure you’re finding a new audience, poco a poco, which can only be good. Glad you were able to participate.
We will have to discuss those tax benefits sometime! Or perhaps, you could do an expose blog post? 🙂
Hope you find a great new place to live.
I agree with Toby. The Pacific Northwest is beautiful. I love Bainbridge Island, which I’m guessing looks a lot like the nearby San Juan Islands.
I hear Bora Bora is a good choice too.
All good. There are myriad wonderful places in the world. Problem’s narrowing it down to only one or two.
Russell, thank you for all you do for authors everywhere and thanks for letting me participate in the Jet KW launch. It was a blast to write JET: Outbreak and see it remain in the top 20 in action/adventure.
The island of Menorca, off the coast of Spain is where Outbreak starts off. I hear it is a lush and beautiful tropical paradise. You’ll have to research the Spanish tax laws though! Good luck brother
Russell, thanks for letting me participate in the kindleworlds launch. I really enjoyed working on My Brother’s Keeper, and admittedly, was a little intimidated by everyone else.
I hope you find a pleasant place to live and chase loose women.
I want to thank you for welcoming me into the JET launch. I’ve learned lots, realised I’ve waited too long to do something I’ve wanted for years. Thanks for the many lessons on “how to” and your great product that continues to give hours and hours of fun.
I understand the itch to move. Stimulation on all fronts, is everything.
I hope you find what you are looking for…

Italy Italy!!! Move to Italy! It’s an impossible country to live in if you have to work locally, but if your work life is separate, it offers stunning beauty, a hip, intelligent populace, amazing food and wine (you’ll have to substitute grappa for tequila, though) and superb medical care.
