The third in The Day After Never series, titled Covenant, is now live, and available at Amazon.
This is the climactic third installment in what I originally conceptualized as a trilogy, but which took on a life of its own, and will require four volumes to complete the plot arc (I came up with a secondary plot element that moved to center stage and required another 75K words to explore).
This four book series represents the entire arc of the original story and characters. There’s another background plot I might explore in a further three book arc, but it’s really a different story, with a distinctly different beginning, middle, and end point. Remains to be seen whether I follow that one, or just leave this the four books, and move on to something else. Guess we’ll see how I feel next year.
I’m super excited at how well the three books turned out, and am working on the fourth as we speak, and it’s coming along nicely. I suspect this will turn out to be one of my enduring series, like JET, where it doesn’t get old, and keeps attracting through word of mouth new readers every week. I certainly hope so.
That’s the big news. I’m only releasing book 4, titled Retribution, the third in the Ramsey‘s series, The Goddess Legacy (which is an amazing adventure novel, believe me), and a JET around November, and that’s it for the year, other than a novella for a friend of mine’s Kindle World in the fall. Next year I will slow further and likely only release a JET, a Ramsey’s, and possibly the three book arc of the next leg of The Day After Never, assuming I’m still fired up about it. Then again, I swore I’d only put out five books this year, and it turned into my usual seven or eight, so what’s the point of even guessing anymore? Nobody believes me, so it’s just hot air at this point.
Loved this book. Looking forward to the next one. Please don’t forget about Artemus Black though. He’s a lot of fun.
Maybe next year.
I don’t know how Kim finished this already, it was only delivered to my inbox at 12:01am… Ok Kim, fess up, how’d you do it!? I’m still on Ben Coes’ latest.
And as for you young man!, never-you-mind about this only writing 5 books per year stuff. You’re the one who created this Frankenstein that is the world of Russell Blake. You have fans you need to satisfy! What am I gonna do with you. Can I bribe you with Tequila and some loose women?
The trick is commitment!
I’m a night owl.
i’m with Ken – HTF did she read it all already ?!!? 🙂 .. and also, re. Ken – i liked Ben Coes’ latest, too … RB – just curious, given the above – any plans on continuing the Fatal series? — as always, thanks!
I plan another Fatal maybe in 2017. I enjoy that pseudo Tom Harris vibe, although it doesn’t sell as well as JET or DAN or Ramsey’s.
10-4; thanks for the good news
I’m just starting book 2 of this series and I’m glad it’s turned into four – just more enjoyable reading!
And as to your “slowing down” comments, I’m still incredulous that someone could consider putting out five new titles “slowing down.” I struggle to do two or three and have always admired your dedication to this thing you love. Keep it up!!!
Which Kindle World are you writing in?
I can’t announce it yet. But soon.
OK – looking forward to it.
Thanks,
Hi Russell,
I haven’t read this series. Probably because if I look away for two minutes there’s another series in progress..LOL! Actually, life became a little messy and I fell behind in several areas. But I just grabbed the first book in the series. After reading that you thought it was your best writing to date, how could I resist?
Great series read three of them and of course looking forward to more of this neatly done apocalyptic drama. Of course I don’t have the negative view of our reluctant knight errant. Ben through 3 hurricanes two mile wide class 5 tornadoes, 1 7.0 earthquake and about a thousand aftershock with some idiot DJ. Telling everyone for twelve hours that the BIG One will be next. Try to keep a group of . People from going off the deep end when they’re listening to that fecal matter! So I think I can wade in with a little knowledge of how people act in these situations. I’m probably the un-luckiest traveler ever! People are better than you think or I wouldn’t be writing this. Secondly Ni-FE batteries can and have been proven to last up to 80 years. Ask Iron Edison it was their batteries in both cases this was true in. Been studying sustainable energy and agriculture systems for about 40+ years. Yes before Solar cells, they were a dream in Popular Mechanics. Just Sayin. Great writing this has been a gateway series for me into your writings. Great ideas in all series masterfully done sir!
You’re my new favorite author! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the first two books of The Day After Never. Your decision to use John David Farrell for narration fit perfectly with the series. I haven’t seen that book 3 or 4 have been turned into audiobooks. Are they in the works or have you stopped producing the series in audio? You’re a fantastic writer and I tell everybody about your books. Can’t wait to start the Drake Ramsey series, I just got them on Audible.
